CrossFit is defined as constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These movements will help you with anything from walking the dog, carrying groceries (because who likes to make more than one trip?!), playing with your kids, and even competing at a high level if that’s your style. We believe intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. Don’t be intimidated by what you see on ESPN though — YOUR version of “intense” might be different from someone else’s version and that’s ok!
The CrossFit program is also driven by data. By keeping accurate scores and records, running a clock, and precisely defining the rules and standards for performance, we can easily measure an athlete’s progress. The community that develops when people do CrossFit together is a key component of why the program is so effective and FUN!
The program prepares you for any physical demands life might throw at you—the unknown and the unknowable. Our specialty is not specializing. While CrossFit can definitely challenge the world’s fittest athletes, the program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any individual, regardless of experience or lack thereof. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change the program. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not by kind.
